Evanston is a city in the northern Illinois area on the Lake Michigan coast. Evanston has many identities: the city itself is not just a uniform, with respect to economic status, culture and race, the entrance to the university town, the cafeteria, the cultural center and the rich north coast.
- For other locations with the same name, see Evanston.
Mr. Evanston was named after John Evans, one of the most famous universities in the United States, who founded Northwestern University.

Plane
The nearest airport is Chicago O'Hare International Airport, but sometimes the Chicago Midway Airport offers more affordable airports.
Public transportation is also available between Ohalle and Evanston. You can take the CTA Blue Line to Clark/Lake station, then transfer to the Purple Line Express (during rush hours), or the Jackson Red Line to the north to go to Howard station and get on the Purple Line on your way to Evanston. The cheap way to Evanston can be made on the Pace Bus 250. The PaceBus 250 runs from O'Hare Kiss and Fly to Evanston Davis Street.
Airport shuttles and taxis are also an option. American taxis, which run at reasonable rates between Ohalle and Evanston (and many other towns on the north coast), have to make arrangements by telephone.
by car
Interstate I-90/94, known as the Edens Expressway, runs about five miles west of Evanston. If you go to Evanston, you can park on the road (two-hour meters) or in one of three city parking lots. (City of Evanston provides details)
by train
- The Metra Union Pacific North Line stops at Evanston's Main Davis stations and stops at Central stations from downtown Chicago.
- Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) runs the Purple Line from Chicago. During the morning and evening rush hours, most elevated trains pass through the loop. From Belmont, on the north side of Chicago, you can express yourself to Howard Station in Rogers Park, on the north end of Chicago. All the trains bound for Evanston stop at this station. If Purple Line Express is not running (day and night), move the Red Line north to Howard and then switch to the Purple Line. Davis Station is in the center of the downtown area and can be accessed nearby.
by bus
- Pace & CTA runs buses from the suburbs of the neighborhood, including Wilmet and Skocky. At Davis CTA station, many routes are connected.
walk around
CTA Purple Line stops on South Blvd, Main, Dempster, Davis, Foster, Noyes, and Central. After the Chuo Line, the CTA Purple Line stops at Wilmet once more. The Pace Bus and the CTA Bus are connecting to many of these stations, especially at Davis Station. Evanston is also a bicycle-friendly city.
In spring, local birds, especially pigeons, are used to the CTA lines (they have been running for over 50 years), so the birds get on the train on Davis Street, get on the train to South Boulevard, and get off the train! The birds seem to have learned that the train is an efficient way to get from the center of the town to the cemetery area next to Southboulevard.

In the 1960s, the university decided to expand its campus by embedding Indiana Dunes' sand in part of the lake and creating a country-like, tree-growing 84 acres surrounding the lagoon. There are also a wide range of eclectic buildings, including outdoor sculpture gardens, indoor art museums, several theaters, neo-Gothic and modern art. - Light House Beach 2611 Sheridan Road (located immediately north of Northwest University, at the north end of Evanston) is a kid-friendly and safe beach, the same as the one in Evanston. Even though it's pretty crowded, it's a very good way to spend a summer day. A relatively new playground is about 20 yards from the beach and you can enjoy it.

The central shopping district is away from Davis Street, the central town of Evanston, but Dempster Street is just a few blocks south of it, so it's also great for shopping. There are several small, stylish, and unpretentious boutiques. In the Central Street shopping area in northern Evanston, a two-block street from Green Bay Road to Hartley Street, there are luxury boutiques, cafes and bakeries such as spice houses, table manners, ritsurin antique maps, urban steams and tag bakeries. The main street in southern Evanston is warmed and worth visiting 10,000 villages, Dave's Down to Earth Rock Shop and Vogue Fabric. Several high-class restaurants are also opened in this area.
I think there are many oriental carpet shops in Evanston.
